Tim Berners-Lee was born June 8, 1955, in London, England. As a graduate of Oxford University, Berners-Lee presently holds academic posts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at CSAIL (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab), (USA) and the University of Oxford (UK). He is generally credited for inventing the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989. Berners-Lee also created a program for himself, called Enquire, that could store information in files that contained connections (“links”) both within and among separate files—a technique that became known as hypertext. I thought it was cool and interesting that Berners-Lee received the first Queen’ Elizabeth Prize for Engineering in 2013. Sources:
